Contacts, duplicates, and export
How contacts are created, the deduplication rule, and getting your data out.
Contacts collects everyone captured by any funnel in your workspace, with their email address, name, phone number where given, and when they last submitted.
How a contact is created
When a submission contains a recognised email address, that address is looked up in your workspace. If it is new, a contact is created. If it already exists, the existing contact is updated rather than duplicated.
Matching is on the lowercased, trimmed email address within a single workspace. Two different workspaces never share contacts, and the same person submitting twice is one contact with two submissions against it.
What happens on a repeat submission
- The last submission date is updated
- A newly supplied name or phone number overwrites the stored one
- A blank answer never overwrites an existing value
- Both submissions remain in full, separately, under the contact
Contact detail
Open a contact to see every submission they have made, which funnel each came from, and the answers they gave. This is the view to open before calling someone back.
Export
Submissions can be exported as CSV from the results page, with one row per submission and one column per question. Use it for backups, or to move data into a spreadsheet or another system while direct integrations are still being built.
